Edexcel 'Skills for Working Life' and City & Guilds 6217

The Edexcel course is an Entry Level 3 qualification which can be achieved along with the Level 1 Units of the City and Guilds 6217 within the first year of studies. It will include periods of work placement to show employers the skills and knowledge achieved.

The Intermediate Construction Award is studied during the second year. The ICA is enhanced when the student starts work and this training leads to NVQ Level 2 in the chosen occupation.

Candidates learn all aspects of the trade including:

Brickwork
Carpentry and joinery
Painting and decorating
Plastering
Plumbing
Health and safety
Access equipment

All learners are encouraged to achieve basic levels of literacy, numeracy and assistive technologies.
